About Slean

Slean is a photo and video cleaner for iPhone and Android, made and maintained by Emre Ertunç. It sorts a photo library by file size, groups duplicates and near-identical shots, filters by screenshot, size, date and album, compresses photos and videos, and includes crop, resize, collage and the Pixel Stretch effect. Everything runs on the device.

Why it exists

I wanted to sort my own camera roll biggest file first. The iPhone Photos app does not do that, and it still does not. There was no screen anywhere that would just tell me which four videos were holding a third of my storage.

So the first version of Slean was a gallery that looked and moved like the one already on the phone, with a size sort bolted on. Sort, then clean. That is where the name came from.

Everything since has followed the same rule: keep the parts of the stock gallery that work, add the parts that are missing. Duplicate and near-identical grouping came next, because sorting by size only solves half of a messy library. Then filters that combine, compression with a real preview, and the photo tools people kept asking for.

Who makes it

One person. I write both apps, both natively — Swift and SwiftUI on iOS, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose on Android. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is a cross-platform wrapper around a web view.

That is the reason the app has no ads, no trackers and no account. There is no growth team that needs a funnel and no investor who needs an engagement chart. Slean makes money when people find it useful enough to pay for, and that is the whole business model.

It also means you are emailing the person who wrote the code. Bug reports land in the same inbox as feature requests, and both get read.

The size on every thumbnail. That was the first idea, and it is still the first thing I use.
